Please join us on the fifth anniversary of Ipupiara’s passing, to celebrate his rich healing legacy, to make sure his knowledge will not be forgotten and will continue to inspire new generations of healers to come. Ipupiara believed that “We Are All Shamans in Training.” that “We are all natives of the Earth and that we all have the responsibility to make other people dreams come true.”
Join us on this special day to learn about: (Time permit)
* Yara & Tupana
Ipupiara (Sweet WaterPink Dolphin) was an anthropologist, environmentalist, healer, and teacher. He was born into the Ure-wau-wau (People of the Stars) tribe of northern Brazil (which no longer survived) and was their last shaman. He was a co-founder of Dream Change with John Perkins, The Native Cultural Alliance, and Eco Global Journey organizations which are dedicated to the preservation and sharing of native cultures and wisdom.
Ipupiara (Dr. Bernardo D. Peixoto) had a vast knowledge of the Amazonian languages and shamanic wisdom ways. He put this intimate knowledge of the ecosystem, plants, and animals to use by sharing it with the children at the National Zoo at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC. He also had wonderful stories, he was generous in sharing them with all of us and it is my mission to keep his legacy and spirit alive.
For 12 years I was fortunate to learned, and assist my brother, mentor and friend Ipupiara Makunaiman during the many teachings and healing ceremonies he performed in New York City on behalf of the NY Shamanic Circle’s community, on the many trips I took with him to his home in Taruma Eco Center at the Rio Negro, Brazil, and workshops we taught together.
